Tutorial for VistaScan32

VistaScan is a pop-up window (running under both Paint Shop Pro and TextBridge Pro) with the scanner's controls and image pre-processing options. Regardless of whether you start the scanning process in Paint Shop or TextBridge, VistaScan is what pops up and provides you with all of the controls for the scanning process.

Preview

Each time you place a new item in the scanner, you need to "Preview" the shape of the image. This will enable you to see where the image is on the scanner's bed (and its orientation) and select which specific area you want to scan.

To Select Scan Area

Define the area that you want to scan by dragging the dottted outline around it. When you move your mouse over the edges of the flashing "area definition" box the mouse changes to a sizing arrow. When you move your mouse into the "area definition" box the mouse changes into a 4-way arrow that allows you to move the whole "area definition" box.

Select Scan Settings

For a basic text scan leave the setting at the default "B/W Document". If you are switching to a color scan you need only change "B/W Document" to "True Color, RGB". The remainder of the settings, (Reflective, 300 dpi, 100%) can all be left at the default. **Warning!** Pay careful attention to the size that the generated image file will be. For example, an 8 1/2" x 11" True Color RGB image at 300dpi (these are the default settings) will create a 24MB image file! Use the Drag Down boxes to turn down any of the above mentioned settings to decrease the file size to around 1 or 2MB.
