Employee Owned Hardware and Software
Computer Services supports the installation, configuration and
use of privately-owned computer hardware or software
if the following conditions have been met.
For each individual piece of computer hardware or software:
1) Proposed hardware or software is reviewed and approved by
Computer Services before it is attached to or installed on
University owned equipment.
2) Owner of privately-owned hardware or software agrees:
- to be responsible for service and/or repair;
- to reimburse the University for time and materials necessary to
repair any damage caused to University owned hardware or
software by privately-owned hardware or software, even if
the privately-owned hardware or software was installed
and/or configured by Computer Services.
- that the University will not be held responsible for any damage
caused to privately-owned hardware or software, including but not
limited to damage caused by its use on campus, installation or
configuration by Computer Services, or acts of God; e.g., lightning
or flood damage.
- to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the University
of Maine at Presque Isle, its employees and agents for liability for any claims
or damages of any kind or description that may arise from any work done on
my computer, even if caused by negligence of the University of Maine at Presque
Isle.
- to provide all software license copyright information to
Computer Services and agree to not violate the terms of those agreements.
3) Further I understand that:
- problems associated with work on my computer can occur, including, but
not limited to, loss of data, software or operating system malfunction, or hardware failure.
- Computer Services cannot perform work on any personally owned
equipment that may invalidate warranties.
- Computer Services reserves the right to terminate connectivity to any
equipment that violates any policy or presents a security issue.
